Do the Capital Crescent Trail and the C & O intersect, or do they just run parallel to each other?

The Capital Crescent Trail crosses/intersects the C&O Towpath as it approaches Fletcher's Boat House located along the Towpath and then generally parallels the Towpath on into Georgetown for about 3.5 miles toward Milepost 0.
