I just ran across an alert at the NPS’s C&O Towpath website that the repairs are complete and the towpath reopened at McMahons Mill between MP’s 88 and 89. Hence it is no longer necessary to take the long-standing detour there. This alert was apparently issued a couple of weeks ago.

Now if they could only finish the work at the Paw Paw Tunnel exit and reopen the Towpath there!
