The C&O Towpath itself does not pass through Shepherdstown WV but rather runs along the Maryland side of the Potomac River opposite Shepherdstown. The closest street address to the trailhead there would be:

16334 Canal Road
Sharpsburg, MD 27822

Enter that address in Google Maps in satellite view and you'll see the trailhead there.

Alternatively, enter the following coordinates:

39.436501, -77.799560

for the trailhead.
