Somerset County has closed the Great Allegheny Passage between Rockwood and Markleton due to an active landslide triggered by recent heavy rain and high winds. There is no detour.

The Great Allegheny Passage Conservancy has arranged and is underwriting a free shuttle for bicyclists and hikers between the Rockwood and Markleton trail access points from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Tuesday, June 24, Wednesday, June 25, and Thursday, June 26.

Many thanks to Allegheny Trail House and Bill's Car Service and Transport for providing these shuttles. The shuttles will be first-come, first-served; please be patient as there may be waits of 30-45 minutes.

Also for Friday and beyond:

“As of this writing, a quick solution appears unlikely. For those planning thru-trips on Friday, June 27 and beyond, please contact one of these shuttle services to arrange a shuttle around this closed segment.”
