Even before the canal existed, this area was a ford on the Great Wagon Road. Its present quiet and beauty belies the activity of two centuries ago, however, and its my favorite place in the world to rest and just enjoy. The big stone house there, Clara's guest house, has the most wonderful upstairs screen porch to enjoy your morning coffee.
