Is the bike trip from Pittsburgh to McKeesport manageable or should it be avoided?

Tough to do, must ride on a very busy road. But will be a good connection to the Waterfront in June

We did it once, but it was a early Sunday morning departure, so traffic was minimal. Believe the road is #837 and goes by Kennywood Park. It is bad. No shoulders, short sight lines at times, and some folks are not bike friendly. Recommend waiting for the new bike paths that are supposed to open by 11-11-11

On June 17, 2011, a new section of trail opens between Homestead and Mckeesport. Homestead is about ?5miles from downtown Pittsburgh.
