Is there a good gym or another place with showers between the end marker and Union Station? I am hoping to get cleaned up before a 24-hour train ride. Or is hoping to find a cheap hotel room the best option?

Some of the hostels in the city are reasonable and close to trail: I paid about $45, six years ago.

Check the YMCA. They'll usually let you use showers for like $5 but I would call first and ask if the non-member public can use their facilities (if they even have them) and how much it will cost.

Many times if you are a member of a YMCA in your area they are a member of the AWA program which lets you use any Y (though for the more urban Ys, Washington DC, etc there may be a small fee).
