Due to the rain & flooding impact the week of May 13, would you recommend canceling a Memorial weekend bike ride of the C&O? trail

Matt from Alexandria on 5/18/2018 10:21:34 AM:
I would hold off on cancelling anything just yet. There has been a lot of rain and more to come today. Water levels will subside in the coming week and things will dry out (a bit), but it is unclear if and how detours will affect travel. Checkout @chesapeakeandohiocanal on Facebook for the latest on trail conditions.

Just got off of the C and O from Washington to Cumberland, the biggest problem being the bike bridge washouts and the detours involve riding on the road makes it dangerous, not to mention the hills are beautiful in a car in the area, not when riding or walking, could not make it,Harpers Ferry is NOT crossing the river and the trail is muddy,I would check everywhere you can before going.
